Dealing with the Weeds
One of mine and Carole’s favorite things to do is sit on our back porch that faces a thick beautiful forest and watch the birds eat at our bird feeders. Just this past weekend Carole commented how much greener the yard was after the good rains we have had, and I answered by saying that most of what we have in the yard is weeds, green weeds, but still weeds.
Matthew 13:24 says, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.” Visit any hardware or home improvement store and you’ll find a half dozen or so types of grass seed, Fescue, Kentucky Bluegrass, Bermuda, etc. But for every grass type, there are dozens of varieties of weeds just waiting to invade and overtake your yard. The weeds are not sold in stores. They will find their way to your lawn on their own. It is a battle that requires vigilance, and it is a battle that never ends.
We are outnumbered, and the only way to survive is to live with intentionality and a high-level of awareness that the Evil One is always at work, coming at you from every angle to disrupt your life, destroy your family, and make you feel defeated. I encourage you to come to our Sunday evening services and learn more about cultivating some “good Fruit of the Spirit” in your lives. We are enjoying wonderful sharing and prayer times with Men’s and Women’s breakout sessions after musical worship. Stay close to Jesus, and it won’t matter if you are outnumbered.
He has overcome the world, and in the end, He will deal with the weeds.
God bless you, Pastor Phillip
