Having a Spiritual Mindset
Many of us have had the mindset a time or two, me included, that God doesn’t care. We keep praying, but our mind is stuck on that thought. Eventually, it leads us to discourage-ment. What about the mindset that it’s too hard? Some may think it’s too hard to go back to school, to fix a relationship, to save money, or to wait until God gives us the right man as our lead Pastor. Eventually, if we continue with that path of thinking, we will want to give up.
God desires for us to have the kind of faith that moves us to change our mindset, attitudes, and decisions. Think about the term, mindset. When we get our mind set, what happens? Our mind is fixed, cemented, and almost unmovable about something; even when we may be wrong.
We can set our minds on Christ and things above to help break the negative mindset. Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” We can do this by reading and studying the Bible, living a life in a state of worship, and through prayer and meditation. We live in such a hurried world, and it is so very important to stop and spend some time with God every day.
Romans 8:5-6 gives us great clarity, “For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit. Now the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.” Dear church family, let’s have a spiritual mindset and walk each day in life and peace.
