TOGO Trip

Church family! We have been presented with an exciting opportunity this summer and for summers to come to bring some upperclassmen students to Togo, West Africa to serve alongside my brother and sister-in-law (James and Jenna Roberts) and the 6° Initiative Team for a week from July 17th - 24th, 2026!

Students will:

· See the church planting movement that is taking place in Togo and Benin.

· See how voodoo and the exportation of precious human life through the slave trade have affected the culture and work here and how the gospel is transforming lives.

· Participate in the discipleship process with the others on the trip as well as with national leaders.

· Build relationships with the Togolese leaders and work alongside them in ministry and recreation.

· Experience life in another culture and prayerfully, recognize their part in the Great Commission, at home, and around the world.

· Read 3 ministry/missions related books and participate in multiple preparatory meetings before the trip.

Our hope is that they will leave forever changed and will have grown to fall more in love with Christ and His mission. This trip for GFBC Students will serve as an opportunity for young men and women whom God may be calling to serve in ministry or missions

This July, Hunter Calhoun and I will be making the trip to Togo. This trip will cost Hunter and I $6,570 total together, and we would love your help funding us for this summer. If you have any questions or want to know more about the trip, please reach out!

If you would like to give towards our trip, please contact me or feel free to write a check out to “First Baptist Church” with a memo “Togo Trip” and whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to give.

I am thankful for this opportunity, as this trip encouraged Abby and I so greatly when we went. Anything I can do to help form and impact those young people who will be serving our churches in the present and future is important to me. I am looking forward to how this trip impacts and grows Hunter, as well as the future students who will get this opportunity in the years to come, Lord willing.

Love you church! Pastor John
