By faith…

“By faith Noah, after he was warned about what was not yet seen and motivated by godly fear, built an ark to deliver his family. By faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”  Hebrews 11:7

When God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to destroy the world with a flood, Noah had not seen an ark or a flood before. He did not have any clue what God was talking about. However, as the Lord gave him instructions on how to build the ark, Noah got some ideas on what the ark would look like, but he still did not know how it would work.

In spite of his lack of understanding, he believed in God. Noah had faith in God that everything God was telling him would come to pass. Noah could see it in his mind that the earth would be covered with water and that the ark that he was building was going to save them; however, he did not know all the details on how it was going to happen. He trusted God with his own life, although he could not comprehend it all.

In our spiritual walk, we also need to believe God with our whole heart even though we do not understand everything that He is telling us. God told Noah something that he could not understand, yet he obeyed God because he believed that God is true. When God is telling us to trust in Him in our situations, we need to trust in Him. We need to live our lives according to His will. Let us not trust in our own way, but God’s way.

If we are not willing to trust Him, then we need to ask Him to change our hearts. We experience the power and the presence of God in our lives when we truly walk in faith in Him.  If you are struggling to fully trust the Lord, ask Him to help you to trust in Him with your whole heart.
