Careful & Wise

In Ephesians 5:15-17, Paul urges believers to be intentional in their living.

He contrasts a careless life with a careful life.

A life careful to walk in wisdom and understanding of the Lord’s will.

Ephesians 5:15 says, "15 Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—“ (CSB).

“Pay…attention” is used in the same way that, “See” or “Beware” is used.

But there is a modifying word, “careful.”

Careful is literally translated, “accurately” or “precise.”

The best way to understand Ephesians 5:15 is that we are to “see” that we walk (live) accurately, not as unwise, but as wise.

We are not to be fools, but to be filled with wisdom.

It is God alone who gives us wisdom.

James 1:5 says, "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.”

By embracing wisdom, believers can cultivate a life that reflects Christ and be a beacon of light to a dark world.

However, we can’t be wise, as the Lord calls us to be, without calling on the Lord.

Seek Him today and everyday!
