God’s Kind of Kindness

“Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?”  Romans 2:4 (CSB)

God’s kindness is not something we earn—it’s a gift, a beautiful expression of His grace that leads us toward repentance. Imagine for a moment, the depth of His patience with us. We often struggle with impatience, but God, in His infinite mercy, patiently waits for us to turn back to Him, even when we stumble. His kindness isn’t just a passive feeling; it’s active, leading us to change, to grow closer to Him.

Think about a time when someone showed you unexpected kindness. Maybe it was a friend offering help when you were overwhelmed, or a stranger sharing a kind word when you felt discouraged. That moment probably shifted your perspective or encouraged you to make a better choice. On a much greater scale, God’s kindness works the same way; it changes our hearts, nudging us toward a life that reflects His love.

Embrace God’s kindness today. Look for ways His patience is at work in your life. When you experience God’s grace, let it change your attitude: towards yourself, towards others, and towards Him. Allow His kindness to stir up a deeper desire to turn from sin and move toward a life filled with purpose and love. Reflect on how you can embody this kindness in your daily interactions, showing others the same grace that God has shown you.

But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, he saved us — not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy — through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:4-5 CSB
