Seeking, Sharing, & Showing Jesus During Holy Week

Church family, as we approach Easter, I pray that our hearts have been challenged and encouraged to grasp Jesus Christ “As He Really Is.” The reality is that we need this reminder that challenges us and encourages us often, not just surrounding Easter. There are 3 things I believe knowing Jesus encourages us towards as a church this Holy Week.

1. Seek Jesus

As we approach Easter, spend some intentional time with the Lord, as well as your family or friends this week. We have been in the Gospel of John for our Easter series As He Really Is. During Holy Week, use your personal time, lunch time, or family time in the Scriptures to get to Easter Sunday, where we will be in John 20.

Monday: Read John 12:23-50 (Jesus’ Final Words to the Crowds)

Tuesday:  Read John 13:1-38 (Jesus Washes the Disciples Feet)

Wednesday: Read John 14-17 (Jesus’ Farewell Teachings & Prayer)

Thursday: Read John 18:1-40, John 19:1-16a (Jesus’ Arrest & Trial)

Friday: Read John 19:16b-37 (Jesus’ Crucifixion & Death)

Saturday: Read John 19:38-42 (Jesus’ Burial)

It’s simple with no preparation required except stopping to do it. Read these Scriptures personally & with your family (or friends), discuss what you learned about Jesus, and pray together. Take some time to thank Jesus for who He is, what He’s done, and what He’s promised us. Pray for opportunities to share Him and show him. Seek Jesus!

2. Share Jesus

Whether it’s a text message, a phone call, a short conversation, or a deep conversation. Whether it’s a family member, a close friend, a coworker, or a stranger. Take a moment this Holy Week to tell someone in your life about the impact that Jesus has had on your life and why Easter is important to you. Invite them to Jesus. If you want to invite them to church Sunday, we’ll gladly have them, but don’t give an invitation to church without an invitation to Jesus too! Share Jesus.

3. Show Jesus

Pray for God to give you opportunities to share and show the love of Christ. Help someone who needs help. Pray with a coworker. Pay for someone’s meal. Send a kind and encouraging word to someone. Look for ways to love people this week: to be kind, generous, and compassionate. Show Jesus!

Father, help us to be intentional this week to seek, share, & show Jesus this week in order that we may learn to do it every week.

Love you church! - Pastor John
