Crash Into His Love

Have you ever had a toddler crash into your arms at full force? They are just so happy to see you that they run to you with all their might. Such a flood of emotions hits you when that happens; excitement, surprise, joy and love. It’s like a giant bubble of wonderful feelings, bursting as you make contact with that little child. All the concerns of the world wash away and the world stands still for just a moment.

When we love one another, God, who is love, reveals Himself to us and to others through us. 1 John 4:10 tells us, “This is real love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” Love is the reason Jesus went to the cross and died a horrible death for you and me. Love is the purpose God chose to reconcile us to Himself through Jesus. Love is what we owe Jesus because He defeated death and rose again. Love is why He has prepared Heaven for those who call Him Savior. Love is why we celebrate Easter as His resurrection day.

There is no love that compares to His love for us, but we have glimpses, like the unconditional love of a small child running into our arms. It is an unconditional and overwhelming love.

Last November our daughter, Lydia, flew home from the United Arab Emirates after being away from us for a year and a half. My wife and I ran across the Atlanta Airport baggage claim area when we saw her and fell into each other’s embrace. That image reminds me of God’s love. When we run to Him with everything we have, we crash into a love unlike no other. We explode into His presence and experience His amazing love, His Joy, and His peace.

Happy Easter dear church family,

Pastor Phillip
